Dirty. We love it. It is a profession that you can fully immerse yourself in every day. That euphoric moment when you manage to land another top client: it is a wonderful feeling. You could almost call it addictive. But if you want to continue to enjoy this beautiful profession, there is one important key to doing this: Enjoy responsibly!

Customer laughs, customer cries... and you?

We have many highlights in our industry. But just like in any other profession, the real top performers rise up during moments of adversity. The way you deal with challenges in the profession determines whether you survive. Sales is a very customer-oriented, exceptionally social and therefore sometimes stressful profession. Charms are thrown into battle, deals are closed and people fly from meeting to meeting. With the right tactics you keep your customers (and bosses) satisfied and you achieve your targets. Of course you want to keep your job. But with a burnout you are even further away from home. So a tactic to keep these out is just as important!

Recognition is the beginning

In order to feel good about yourself, it is important to recognize when this is not the case. Many symptoms of burnout creep in gradually. “Oh well, it's part of it,” is a common excuse. But nothing is less true. A number of important signals that may sound alarm bells:

  • No matter how much sleep you get, you remain very tired.
  • Everything, even the smallest tasks, feels heavier than ever before.
  • You prefer to leave meals alone.
  • You find it increasingly difficult to focus on your tasks.
  • You become irritated more often and your fuse becomes shorter and shorter.
  • The downward spiral makes your optimism increasingly difficult to find.

Keep climbing without stopping

But what can you do about it? Or how do you prevent yourself from having to deal with these alarm signals in the first place? Okay; no work, no burnout. That's simple. But of course that doesn't help anyone. Therefore, here are a few tips to organize your work in such a way that you can have fun and stay healthy:

  • Plan and ensure a workflow that you can fall back on in good and bad times.
  • Set realistic goals and deadlines so that stress does not disrupt your daily rhythm.
  • Continue to critically examine whether your way of working still works for you.
  • Don't solve everything yourself, but dare to learn, also from managers. After all, your success is their success.
  • Find ways to work more productively and efficiently, for example here.
  • In addition to success, also accept setbacks. Everyone has them, so learn from them and give yourself space.

Check yourself…

Stay sharp and don't lose sight of your physical and mental condition. Investing in yourself means taking good care of body and mind. It is of course always an advantage to be well prepared and thus limit setbacks. This can also help you get started with more peace and confidence. So take a look inside our sales training and discover how you can boost your skills in sales.
